VitalQIP Standard
Course Overview
This course provides the completely understanding of the VitalQIP system. It is geared to persons who are responsible for the installation, deployment and operation of VitalQIP. The participant will be trained in defining and supporting IP services. Sufficient training is provided to allow students to prepare VitalQIP administrator candidates at their installations to perform day-to-day functions. This course is based on VitalQIP7.x. Lecture materials will be re-enforced by lab exercises. (For those with previous IP, DNS and DHCP knowledge there is a 2-day VitalQIP module available.)
Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
- understand the components of the VitalQIP system and how they interact
- list the databases and files used by VitalQIP and explain what each are used for
- know the way VitalQIP handles dynamic DNS updates coming from DHCP or external processes
- install the VitalQIP Windows GUI client and remote server
- establish client / server connections between the enterprise server, a Windows administrator client and the VitalQIP remote server
- create VitalQIP infrastructure in preparation for entering and managing IP objects: domains, servers, Windows2000 domain controllers, OSPF areas and subnet groups
- demonstrate adding, changing and deleting objects in the VitalQIP system from the administrative clients (GUI and web)
- add administrators and using those newly created users to access parts of the network; create administrative roles and assign them to administrators
- create DNS configuration files to name servers
- create DHCP templates and scopes; push configuration information to DHCP servers
- operate the newly created DNS and DHCP servers; troubleshooting problems
